 The coming months will see the development of a number of projects that link with our four core themes. Leadership & Direction Working with the Connecting Somerset Partnership we will ensure that Somerset’s profile is raised even higher and that we are in the strongest possible position to pursue future funding opportunities. We intend to help create and support a regional partnership. Its aim is to ensure that the region takes full advantage of upcoming schemes and funding opportunities and to share best practice between partners. Infrastructure Building Fast, reliable connectivity to the Internet is recognised as a key economic driver. We understand only to well the frustration that poor service can lead to. Where poor connectivity has been identified we will work to ensure, whenever possible, that a suitable solution is implemented. We propose over the coming months to fully investigate the advanced connectivity options available that will allow the transformation of Somerset’s communities and businesses. Access to Competence To ensure that the full benefits of new technologies are understood and utilised we will be running an integrated set of technology workshops and conferences aimed at SMEs. In addition we aim to collaborate with other Local Authorities wishing to increase the e-adoption of their SMEs. Knowledge Economy & Low Carbon Economy Knowledge is key to economic benefits in today's globalised society. |
