A
static website, also known as a brochure website, is the type
of website that displays information about your company, product
or services. These websites usually contain 8 web pages
or above and should cost you around £400 - £1500;
depending on the actual number of web pages and whether your website
has any additional features such as animation or special functionality.
When budgeting for a static website you must remember
that web hosting and a domain name (www address) will be required.
This is an annual fee and costs around £50-£200
per annum. Complex hosting such as database driven websites
may cost more.
Finally, you must remember that each web page within your website
will require content such as text, pictures, documents, etc. Your
web designer may make this for you but as your designer will not
know your business as well as you do, you will most likely have
to do this yourself. This takes time to collate so be sure to
have all this ready for your web designer before you apply for
a Connecting Somerset grant. The reason for this is that you will
have 3 months to complete the website and preparation is the key
to getting solution/project completed with that time limit.
If you would like your company or organisation to meet best
practice with your website then speak to your web designer about
W3C compliancy. W3C compliancy basically means that the web
designer should make your website to standards that do not exclude
the blind, disabled or disadvantaged.
