Grow your business and see what opportunities superfast broadband can offer your business.

A fast reliable broadband connection is becoming ever more important for businesses and residents. With the growth of the Internet and the rise in online services, not having access to a reliable fast broadband connection can put you at a serious disadvantage. This is why we are supporting Somerset County Council in their ambition to deliver Superfast broadband across the County by 2015.

Our Shared Vision

Ensure access to significantly faster broadband for every business and community by 2015, with the vast majority having access to superfast broadband;

Deliver this at a fair price and through an open network which attracts a wide variety of retail service providers, where rural communities benefit at the same time as urban areas;

Work with businesses, communities and across the public and voluntary sectors to realise the potential benefits – unlocking economic growth to create more and better jobs, and transforming access to services for rural areas.

We aim to support this vision by identifying where the main issues are in the county, and to register as much demand for Superfast broadband services as possible.

Superfast broadband will transform the opportunities for Somerset businesses, helping the private sector access new markets, work in new ways, and attract new companies into Somerset. Ultimately it will help us safeguard jobs and create more jobs, in particular in high growth and high value sectors.

It has the potential to transform access for rural communities, be it new ways of delivering higher & further education, changing the way health & social care can help support people to stay in their own homes for longer, and help the public sector be more efficient in what it does. It can also help us become a greener economy, enabling people to work remotely & from home much more easily.

Somerset County Council will be presenting a multi million pound bid to BDUK in mid April 2011. You can support this bid by completing our demand registration survey

More information & support material will be added to this site over the coming weeks and months
